The Hidden Theatre Company was founded in 2016 by Royal Central School of Speech & Drama graduates Drou Constantinou and Abby Restall. The company was born out of a want to develop and produce their own work as they felt that it is paramount in today’s industry. This is why the company's ethos is
'showcasing hidden talent and work to be passionate about'.
At the end of 2016 the company were lucky enough to be recipients of one of two Equity Young Members’ Bursaries, which kickstarted funds for their 2017 programme. The company made their stamp on 2017 by setting up set up 'SCRATCHED' at The Water Rats Theatre in Kings Cross and they also took part in the 25th annual Camden Fringe Festival at The Hen and Chickens with Making Waves: A Song Cycle.. In 2018 they produced Carner and Gregor’s Island Song at The Tristan Bates Theatre which then transferred to The Nursery Theatre. Both productions received multiple ★★★★ reviews respectively. The company also set up monthly Takeovers at The Nell of Old Drury every first Wednesday of the month to help develop new writing for stage, screen and comedy acts.
Abby Restall was born in North Wales - although you wouldn’t think it from the sound of her voice! Having spent 3 years at the University of Central Lancashire studying a BA (hons) Music Theatre. She moved to London in 2014 to continue her studies at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, where she gained an MA in Music Theatre with distinction. Abby’s experience lies in music theatre and devised work. Throughout her training Abby was part of the original cast of Watertight (2015, UCLan), composed by Richard Taylor (The Go-Between, Flowers for Mrs. Harris) and directed by Roger Haines (The Go-Between, The Girls, Assassins, Into The Woods). She was also in the original casts of Pandora the Musical (2014, UCLan) and a musical adaptation of Aristophanes’ Lysistrata (2015, RCSSD). Drou Constantinou began her professional training in 2009 at The University of Chichester with a BA (Hons) in Musical Theatre. At Chichester she gained various backstage experience and now has proficient skills in props, costume and set building/painting. This led to her first job as an Assistant Producer for Brightspark Productions working on various TV commercials and from July 2012 she worked in the wardrobe department for the first UK Tour of The Lion King. This then led to her working in the costume departments on a variety of other shows including; Oliver! 9 to 5:The Dolly Parton Musical and Matthew Bourne’s Sleeping Beauty. In the summer of 2013 Drou was cast in NYMT’s production of West Side Story with Nikolai Foster, Tom Deering and Drew Mconie as the creative team. This show made her decide to return to training in September 2013 at PPA in Guildford and in 2014 she gained a place at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama to continue her studies where she graduated with distinction. Gregory Jordan is a Lighting Designer based in London and holds a BA (Hons) in Lighting Design from Rose Bruford College. His design credits include: Island Song (Nursery Theatre), Cinderella (Leatherhead Theatre), Julius Caesar (Courtyard Theatre), Cyril’s Success (Finborough Theatre), Breakfast (The Vaults, Waterloo), Beauty and The Beast (The Maltings Ely), Female Gaze (The Cockpit), The Enchanted (Bunker Theatre), Treasure Island (East Anglia Tour), Over The Limit Celtic Season (The Vaults, Waterloo), and Ivy (Southwark Playhouse).
